Fiori Roles Remediation & App Activation Tools

Two custom-built utilities that streamline Fiori app lifecycle management — from replacing obsolete apps in security roles to activating new apps in mass — cutting down work that previously required multiple manual steps per app.

1. Fiori Roles Remediation Tool

Replacing an obsolete Fiori App ID with its successor inside a security role traditionally meant manually updating the role menu in PFCG — a slow, repetitive process. This tool automates the entire workflow.
How it works

  • On the selection screen, provide the obsolete Fiori App ID and the target role(s).
  • The tool checks whether the obsolete app exists in the role.
  • If found, it automatically replaces it with the successor App ID and updates the role menu.
  • If the successor app already exists, the tool detects this and skips it to avoid duplicate entries.
  • All changes are captured in a Transport Request for movement across systems.

OutputA report listing each role, the app details, and a status message — successfully updated, already exists, or no change required. Results can be verified directly in PFCG, where the updated App ID appears in the role's menu.

2. Fiori App Mass Activation Tool

Activating a new Fiori app typically involves activating the OData service, activating the ICF node, and assigning roles in PFCG — repeated individually for every app. This tool performs all three steps in a single execution.
How it works

  • Accepts one or multiple obsolete Fiori App IDs for mass activation.
  • Automatically activates OData services, ICF nodes, and required PFCG role assignments.
  • If an app is being activated for the first time, the tool prompts for a Package and Transport Request to capture the changes.
